Art Journal Prompt: Off the Page
Instructions:
Create art that is outside your journal today. A stick, a plate, a shirt or a lunch sack like I did.
Example Page:
How I created my page:
| First step – Surface or Support. Choose a surface to work on.. be creative! I was packing my daughter’s lunch for school today so chose her lunch sack.
|
| Second step – Sketch. I did my sketch with a waterbrush filled with black acrylic ink. I really like this for sketching because I can get different size lines with the same tool.
|
| Third step – Color. I could have stopped with a sketch but I wanted color so I used my neocolors and a waterbrush.

Tee’s Tips:
When you are painting something that will not remain flat.. try to take the future shape into account and compensate. For my bag, I knew it would round out with the food inside, so I painted it a little elongated.
Here’s what it looked like flat. Notice how the neck and the face are a little longer than usual? When the bag is filled.. they round and shorten.

Supplies used today:
- acrylic ink
- waterbrush
- you can never have too many of these!
- neocolor II water-soluble crayons
A Word from Tee:
I’m still under the weather today… so I pulled out this prompt to do something outside our journals.
There may be more of them later… with tips on how to work with different surfaces.
I would want that lunchbag to last forever!!! Great idea. Love the loquats below too...awesome.
ReplyDeleteI had a burst of spring yesterday. We visited the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens to see the cherry blossoms in bloom...wonderful!!
