Pennant Art Journal Page and Prompt

pennant-Polaroid

Art Journal Prompt:  Pennant

Instructions:

A pennant is a banner or flag.  Originally used for signaling and identification on ships, today they are commonly used for sporting events and teams as well as to create banners.

Use a pennant in your page today.

Example Page:

Pennant

How this example was done:

First step – Background.  This is simple dark blue, medium blue and a touch of white paint, on a nearly dry brush that I scrubbed into my page.  I set it aside to dry.

Second step – Banner.

  • Scribble – I scribbled color on to my watercolor page.scribbled-color
  • Blend – then I used a wet brush in diagonal strokes to blend the colors into stripesBlended-with-water
  • Template – I drew the banner shape onto the back of the paper and cut them outdraw-shapes-on-back
  • String – I folded the tabs over a string and glued them down
  • Attach – I used glue to attach the banner to the page, letting it hang off the edges.

Third step – Journaling – it says: as warm winds caress and new buds grow, let banners fly so all will know
