Art Journal Prompt: Small Parts
We are always hearing.. “Look at the big picture.” Well sometimes the big picture is overwhelming and leaves us feeling lost. Whether your big picture is your health, your situation with family or work – sometimes you need a mental break.
Let’s ground ourselves today by going deeper and examining the parts of the whole. Full instructions are in the step by step below.
How I created my page:
First step – Purge. Grab a pencil and pour out your frustrations as free writing on your page. Free writing has no sentence structure, doesn’t care if you use punctuation or capitals at all. It’s just letting out those negative things that we are holding inside. Some things to note:
Second step – Fresh Perspective
With this step we are letting go of the big picture and finding something small to focus on. We are grounding ourselves so that the big picture doesn’t sweep us away.
my part was the corner of a display case at the library
Third step – Color. This can be done where you are now, or back at your art space.
Here we are saying to ourselves that the smallest part is important, bright and beautiful as only we can see it.
Fourth step – Color Block
Everything is connected. The beautiful small part that we found, embraced and captured is connected to the big picture.
