Art Journal Prompt: Celebrate

How I created my page:

We spent part of the day at the beach for Independence Day. Morgan played in the sand then swam in the calm waters until almost dark… with her Dad standing watch on the edge of the waves.

First step – Sketches. I did each sketch as things caught my attention (there are four pages of them) Each was loosely done with a ball point pen. Lots of restated lines and no erasing. Love that.

Second step – Color. I used watercolor, inktense and neocolors to add color to the sketches.

I love how fast the watercolor shades things but can’t let go of the vibrant colors of the other mediums. I am still learning to do stronger colors with my watercolors.

Third step – Journaling and Border. I used a marker to write in the date.. then my pen to journal. After that, I drew in lines to connect and frame everything…. with inktense pencil and outlined that with the ink pen.
