Art Journal Prompt:  Home

 

Instructions:

Home can be the people of your family, the neighborhood you grew up in or the house you adore.  What does home mean to you?

How I created my page:

I decided to draw a row of whimsical houses.  Obviously NOT where I grew up but a fun little neighborhood where my muse might live.

 

First step – Frame and Sketch.  I drew in the border first and then sketched the houses and trees.

Second step – Color.  I used neocolor II’s on this.. yummy. Trees – started with them and used yellow, greens, reds and browns to make them vibrant. Sky and Clouds – I added the clouds before coloring in the sky and did them similar to Samara’s clouds.  Colored the sky with three shades of blue getting darker at the top. Houses – I wanted them to pop so I used bright colors. Grass – two shades of olive green for the grass.

Third step – Outline.  I wanted a heavier line so I used the Pitt brush marker to go around everything and thicken the lines.
