Art Journal Prompt:  In the Mirror

 

Instructions:

When you look in the mirror.. what do you see?  You can do this in an abstract, a word web, a sketch, a photo or a painting.

How I created my page:

I couldn’t sleep the other night so I pulled out a mirror and sketched what I saw.  This is pure graphite (a regular pencil), smudged with my finger and no erasing.  I just looked in the mirror and drew what I saw there.. even the dark spots on my cheek (right and below my eye in this mirror image) and the spot on my nose too.

If you want to try sketching, I have tips on drawing noses, mouths and eyes.  If you have not seen them.. check ‘em out.  Here’s a close up of my left eye… (mirror image of it) and you can see that I did it exactly the same way I show in the tip sheet.  Oh yes.. and I included the dark circles and wrinkles too.  I bare my soul to you guys with my art.. what’s a wrinkle or two??

 

A Word from Tee:

Joey came home from his visit in Texas today.  We are planning on going down to the marina in the morning to sketch some boats. He’s very excited about it.  After that.. we should get back to our virtual vacation.  I am totally looking forward to virtual visits with everyone who has generously offered images of their town.
