Art Journal Prompt: Wisdom
Instructions:
Wisdom is many things to many people. For some it’s the knowledge gained through study and for others it’s the experience gained through life. What does wisdom mean to you? Explore the word and demonstrate it in your art today.

How I created my page:
I chose to show this sweet lady to demonstrate wisdom today. She’s precious and I would have liked to have had time to get to know her. Elder to me does not mean useless… it means wise. Elders are to be respected, cared for when they need it and learned from at all times. I look at Ms. Vally here and wonder about the things she has seen.
| First step – Sketch Ms. Vally was sitting in front of me yesterday. She’s a lovely lady and her wonderful profile inspired me. I asked and she gave her permission for me to share her likeness with you guys. I used a mechanical pencil to do the sketch in about 15 minutes.
|
| Second step – Color Neocolor – I used my crayons to add color around the sketch but decided not to paint the lady herself. She stands out in black and white and… symbolizes a woman who is out of time. The vibrant colors surrounding her are how I saw her personality. Brilliant and always seeking the light.

Supplies Used Today:
A Note from Tee
Someone asked about the paper and the journal that I’m using right now. This is a book that I got on clearance one day. The paper inside is thin.. almost like rice paper. Anything I put on one side is totally visible on the other side. sooooooo I sometimes adhere two pages together to make thicker pages. Works like a charm.
Plus.. when I get this paper wet, it gets these strange vertical lines in it. They add texture… *shrug* you may be able to see it in the image below.
I started using the book to remind myself that it’s more important to do the art than to fret about supplies. Practice is the thing.
So to answer your question… yes. Composition books will work for art journals. You may want to glue two pages together though. Either way… get the book out and use it.
It’s the doing that matters.

Love the way that only the background has color and not the lady! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to honor wisdom. You are really doing well with faces. I can see the character in each face that you do.
