Art Journal Prompt: Explore
Instructions:
Journal about a time you explored a new area, or did something that was out of the ordinary for you. Bonus fun: Go make a new memory to art about.
Example Page:
How I created my page:
First step – Blocking in shapes with paint. I didn't sketch first, Bob was moving along the beach pretty fast so I worked quickly to capture the moment. I used my water brush and watercolor to block in the shape of his hoodie and jeans.
|
Second step – Add Background. Then I washed in colors for the sand and the initial color for the waves.
|
Third step – Add Depth. I used darker washes to add shadows to the figure and to indicate the deeper water.
|
Fourth step – Details. Then I added details and additional colors for depth.. like the seaweed on the beach and the sky (lighter shade of the water color)
|
Fifth step – Sketch. Yep did any sketching after the painting today. Just a bit here and there to detail things.
|

A Word from Tee:
Bob and I headed out to new strip of beach today to explore. We packed a picnic and had a blast. He took a hundred or so photos and I did a couple of sketches and this little watercolor page.Where do you want to explore?
