Art Journal Prompt: Light
Instructions:
Capture light or the source of light in your journal today. This is the perfect season to do this in several ways, Christmas lights, Hanukkah lights, candles.. the light in the eyes of a loved one. You decide and show one or more.Example Page:
Around the page it says:
Little red candle lantern
shine so brightly in the dark.
Add your warmth along with your brilliant light
Little red lantern delight
This is the the little lantern that we carry with us when we go caroling on Christmas Eve. I love this lantern for other reasons too.. we also take it camping and did you know this little guy can warm the tent when it's cold, or brew a cup of tea?
How I created my page:
First step – Sketch. I sketched the lantern in ink.. yeah I'm growing in my confidence so I'm reaching for the pen more than the pencil these days. OH and I found a good one.. I'll tell you about it my note below.
|
Second step – Watercolor. I colored the lantern with washes of watercolor
|
Third step – Colored Pencil. Finally, I added some shading to the background with colored pencils.
|
Supplies used today:
- waterbrush
- you can never have too many of these!
- artists' watercolor field box set

So cool! I'll look for time for this prompt, but I'm so swamped with getting this house ready for the family Christmas eve bash, that I may miss all the fun stuff leading up to Christmas!
